"Breath: Living the Spirit of God Through the Spiritual Exercises" seeks to make the profound wisdom of the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola not just a periodic retreat experience, but a lived reality, deeply woven into the fabric of everyday existence.
We are called to be Contemplatives in Action, which means taking time to pause and sit with the Lord to understand our true calling and gain the strength to respond. This requires us to learn how to listen to God and discern His voice.
The Online Prayer Workshop is designed to help attendees achieve this goal by becoming contemplatives in action. The workshop includes various contemplative prayer practices:
To be a Contemplative in Action is to pause, listen, and recognize God’s presence in the ordinary. This workshop offers a sacred space to practice silence, prayer, and reflection so we may hear God’s voice more clearly in our daily lives.
Participants will be introduced to three prayer practices:
The Daily Examen – reflecting on the day to notice God’s movements.
Lectio Divina – listening deeply to God through Scripture.
Imaginative Prayer – entering the Gospel with our senses and heart.
Through guided practice and small group sharing, participants will learn to savor the fruits of silence, deepen intimacy with God, and integrate prayer into daily life. Whispers of the Divine nurtures a listening heart—attentive, responsive, and rooted in God’s love.
- The Daily Examen: A method from the Ignatian tradition that helps us reflect on our day and recognize God’s presence.
- Imaginative or Contemplative Prayer: Engaging our imagination to enter into Scripture and encounter God more deeply.
- Lectio Divina: A traditional practice that involves reading, meditation, prayer, and contemplation with Scripture and nature.
In addition to these practices, participants will engage in small group sharing sessions. These sessions allow everyone to relish the fruits of their silence and reflection, deepening their spiritual journey together.
