Eco-Divina: Praying with Nature

August 1, 2019 — Saturday

Eco-Divina is inspired by Lectio Divina which uses Scripture or Bible verses. In Eco-Divina, the participants will be invited to pause, use their senses to savor their surroundings, and wait for God to speak to them. The focus of the retreat is on the four elements in nature: Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water, and how God can speak to us through them.

Fr. Thomas Keating, a monk and one of the principal developers of the Centering Prayer, said that there are two books God has written: the Bible and Nature. The beauty and mystery of nature has inspired poets, photographers, painters, philosophers, and those seeking for a deeper spirituality. People who are amused by nature and the profound wisdom it offers have used it for a deeper prayer life.
