The soul comes full circle

A year ago this month of October, God answered one of our prayers about creating a space where the alumni of our spiritual formation programs and some attendees of our past retreats can come together and engage in a safe and soulful sharing. Through an almost ‘Aha!’ moment, the Soul Circle was born. Twenty-two gatherings later, Soul Circle (SC) continues to grow as a community and has become a go-to place for those in search of regular inspiration and deepening.

Here are some reasons why people love attending Soul Circle meetings:

Safe and growing community.
We know how difficult it is to find a group where you can feel safe pouring your heart and soul out. All SC attendees work together in keeping the community a sacred space for one another. The community also makes way for further connections through sharing of resources and building partnerships among the members.

Come as you are.
Authenticity, vulnerability, and hospitality are the key elements of one’s participation in SC meetings. There is space for everyone. We transcend distance, varying time zones, and differences in political views, faith traditions, and even nationalities.

Opportunity to “see God in all things”.
As a meeting draws near, the members find themselves in a prayerful disposition even when they are busy with work or attending to personal concerns. The topic and the reflection questions dwell in their hearts so that they are able to sense how God is connecting with them at all times.

Relevant and interesting topics.
Each topic is a fruit of the prayers of the organizers. We practice deep sensing of how the Spirit is moving in, around, and through us.

Regularity, Accessibility, and Simplicity.
SC meetings are predictable and can easily be integrated in the personal calendars of the members. We meet every first and third Wednesday of the month from 8:00-09:30 pm. Our members report that the schedule works well especially for those who have a lot going on during the day. We use Zoom which is a familiar platform for most people these days. The members only need to bring one thing with them: the fruits of their reflection in relation to the topic at hand.

Soul Circle meetings are simple and meaningful ways to nourish one’s spirituality. It is a very accessible entry point towards further deepening through other spiritual formation programs. The members’ deep trust in the process makes every Soul Circle meeting safe and worth every minute.

A year ago, the OTTD team asked God for a space where co-pilgrims along the journey can pray together and inspire one another. What actually happened was even more than we prayed for. It has evolved into something more profound. Every meeting allows each member to become more hospitable to others and more sensitive to God’s movements. We are all witnesses of God’s heart that is broad and spacious for everyone. And because we are all recipients of God’s boundless grace, we are moved to pay it forward to others.

In the words of Teresa of Avila: “Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours.”
